Welcome to Dinger's Dogs!
Pet Insurance!
We've been raising dogs for 25 years. It was never a thing we considered until the last 2 years. Vet costs have gone through the roof. One of our cardigans decided he would eat a rock a year ago. It was $6,000 to remove it. We strongly recommend getting at least accident and illness insurance. We don't opt in for wellness, but that is also available. We use Metlife because my job gets a discount with them. I've also heard good things about AKC and Trupanion. I recommend unlimited insurance, with a higher deductible. Our deductible is $1,000. It keeps the monthly bill low. For Metlife, you have to call to get unlimited, if you sign up online there is a cap of $10,000. Metlife also offers family grouping, so you can have multiple dogs working on one deductible. There is a facebook group that deals with pet insurance. People on that page can answer many questions and give their experiences. Its called "Pet Insurance Info Exchange"
